SAP only allows one fixed assset depreciation area to post to the General Ledger in real time for both, acquisition and production costs (APC- otherwise known as original cost) and depreciation. Typically, this is depreciation area (financial book) 01. However, a separate feature in Fixed Assets allows additional depreciation areas to post to the General Ledger. For example, it may be necessary to post revaluated values, while continuing to track the original asset value in financial book 01. SAP allows several options to post other depreciation areas to the ledger. One option is called Periodic Posting, and uses business transaction ASKB-APC Values Posting.
